Arts Commons Transformation & Olympic Plaza Transformation

The Arts Commons Transformation (ACT) and the Olympic Plaza Transformation are a $660 million investment in the Arts Commons Campus in Calgary, the largest cultural infrastructure investment underway in Canada.

Our first iteration of this video focused on the Arts Commons expansion. The expansion will introduce a 1,000-seat theater and a smaller 200-seat theater. This three-level, 162,000 sq ft building, equipped with modern amenities, is set to support Calgary’s growing art community.

The video above is the second iteration, this time focusing on the Olympic Plaza Transformation. The $70M revitalization of the Plaza reimagines this iconic downtown gathering space as a more modern, inclusive, accessible and flexible public plaza. The new design includes an iconic 12-metre central water feature inspired by Calgary’s 1988 Winter Olympics logo called the "sunflake", a sloped green space, a skating rink in the winter, and a multi-season pavilion with food and beverage service and public washrooms.
